Ties to Rochester emerge in newly released Jeffrey Epstein files

ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) – Ties to southeast Minnesota have emerged in the newly released Jeffrey Epstein files.

More than three million pages, the files are compiled of court documents, flight logs, emails, and other media collected as evidence in criminal cases against Epstein and his associates. In them, one of the biggest names in Minnesota, Mayo Clinic, appears more than 90 times.

KTTC found no wrongdoing of Mayo Clinic or any of its leaders during its review on the files.

The medical giant is mentioned more than 90 times, many of which are snippets of research by Mayo Clinic. Mentions include research about what happens to babies raised on sugar or how attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) presents in children.

Mayo Clinic is also mentioned various times in email and text exchanges. Several times by Steve Bannon, a political strategist and close ally of President Donald Trump. Bannon was looking for care of a family member and asked Epstein for help getting connected to Mayo Clinic. There are several instances of Epstein’s associates asking for the same, like Emerati businessman Sultan Bin Sulayem.

In one email exchange, Dr. Bruce Moskowitz appears to offer Epstein a tour of Mayo Clinic, although it’s unclear which campus. Mayo Clinic confirms it has no records of Dr. Moskowitz as an employee.

One email from a redacted sender to Epstein mentions investment opportunities within Mayo Clinic in 2010.

Winona State University is also mentioned in the files. In 2010, a student reached out to University of California, Los Angeles Professor Dr. Mark Jude Tramo about work and volunteer opportunities. The professor is mentioned more than 450 times and now facing scrutiny for his correspondence with the convicted sex offender. Tramo can still be found on UCLA’s campus directory as of February 23. WSU stated in a comment it is common for students to seek out work opportunities.

The Federal Medical Center in Rochester is mentioned in federal court records. A government information specialist stationed in Rochester commented on visitors of Epstein shortly before his death in 2019.

The files are wide reaching, even an article by KTTC from 2025 about meth seized in Minnesota is mentioned. The mention of KTTC came from a July 10, 2025, FBI daily news briefing.
