US Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem was grilled by Democrats and Republicans in Senate and House judiciary committee hearings on 3 and 4 March.
Noem came under fire for the shootings of two protesters in Minneapolis by federal agents and her use of government funds for promotional advertisements.
Trump announced in a post on TruthSocial that Noem would be replaced by Oklahoma's Republican senator, Markwayne Mullin.
