PHOENIX — President Donald Trump is scheduled to deliver his State of the Union address Tuesday evening and some members of Arizona's congressional delegation are not planning to be there.

U.S. Sen. Ruben Gallego said he was going to "pass" on Trump's SOTU because he had "more productive ways to spend two hours." Congresswomen Adelita Grijalva and Yassamin Ansari both said they were not attending Tuesday's event and Grijalva indicated she was giving her ticket away so that a citizen detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement could attend.

Republican Congressman Paul Gosar poked fun at the Democrats publicizing their choice to skip the SOTU by asking to have their tickets.

"I have a long list of patriots wanting to attend," Gosar wrote on X.

U.S. Rep. Andy Biggs, R-Mesa, said he was looking forward to hear Trump outline the next phase of the president's agenda and indicated Biggs was "committed to working alongside him."

Some Democrats from Arizona are planning to be present during the president's speech.

U.S. Sen. Mark Kelly announced he was bringing Martin Sepulveda, a Desert Storm veteran and former member of the Chandler City Council, as his guest to the event.

“Martin has served our country in uniform, created jobs for Arizonans, and stepped up for his community. He has led a life of service," Kelly said in a statement. "I’m honored to have him as my guest as we keep standing up for the values and freedoms we served to protect.”

U.S. Rep. Greg Stanton, D-Phoenix, said his SOTU guest will be Greg Farley, an executive at aerospace manufacturer FALCO.
